Through the Lens: Pantanal Photo Safari Experience

  • A giant otter, the world’s longest weasel, feeding from fish

Immerse yourself in the vibrant, lush wetlands scenery while capturing awesome shots of Pantanal wildlife with your lens as you embark on a photo safari. Get your camera ready as we cruise through open fields and flooded areas in search of the perfect picture!

Our photo safari begins as we board an adapted safari vehicle and head out on are adventure into the world’s largest wetlands! Since we’ll be accompanied by two guides, one of which is our “Pataneiro,” a local who knows the area well and is an expert at tracking and spotting wildlife, and the other of which will be a naturalist able to provide plenty of insight into our surroundings and the wildlife, there should be plenty of amazing picture-taking opportunities.

During our safari, we’ll be driving along many different types of habitats, making stops to help you capture the perfect Pantanal snapshots. Be on the lookout for the largest terrestrial mammal in South America, the tapir, the largest of all the anteaters, the giant anteater, and the endless potential to spot a huge variety of birds, since there are more than 700 species that call Pantanal home. The hyacinth macaw, toucans, kingfishers, and the tallest flying bird in South America, the Jabiru, are just a few to keep an eye out for. You’ll also want to keep your eyes peeled for the world’s largest rodent, the capybara. They are extremely social animals, typically living in groups of 10-20. They are excellent swimmers and can stay submerged underwater for around five minutes in order to evade any predators that may be lurking nearby. You may even get to see other animals taking a ride on top of the capybara, as they are known as “living chairs” and “nature’s ottoman,” as birds, monkeys, and other capybaras love to sit on them.

After plenty of wildlife viewing and picture taking, our photo safari adventure comes to an end as we ride back to our lodge for a special meal, having photographed some of the majestic hidden wonders of the Pantanal.
